SUV of the Year

For more than a week Motor Trend tested over 30 SUV's in real world conditions with roads full of sand, gravel, just plain dirt and even paved.  The MT folks really defined what a SUV or Sports Utility Vehicle is all about.  It is fitting that they chose the 2019 Jeep Wrangler as the SUV of the year.

Motor Trend said: “Jeep resists the temptation to dilute its climb that mountain capabilities for crossover softness.”  Indeed, the Wrangler's diverse range furnishes a model for every need.  This award-winning fun machine is proudly on display with the friendly folks at Waxahachie Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM located at 2405 N. Interstate 35E in Waxahachie, Texas or by calling the dealership at 469.517.0043 and so ready to show you how it won that honor.

This new Wrangler is larger, smarter and even more comfortable.  You will discover quickly that the Jeep engineers really adhered to the number one rule and that was “don't screw it up” and they didn't.  The Wrangler is still the World's most iconic off/on road vehicle for over 70 years.  The round headlights are still there along with the 7-slot grille and plugs in the floor for cleaning. But, if you look closer, you will notice larger side glass, a re-positioned spare tire for greater visibility and more of a slant in the grille.  Overall, this new Wrangler is taller, longer and more comfortable.

Jeep stuck with a steel fully boxed body on a framed designed chassis and made it lighter with an aluminum hood, fender flares and doors plus the rear swing gate now is magnesium. That weight loss makes the doors easier to take on and off.   The new Sky One-Touch power top is a game changer as not only does the cloth top retract, but the rear quarter windows pop out for an open air experience.

Underneath it rides on a five-link suspension for improved on road experiences.  The front and rear axles have available locking differentials and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar.  Available are four under-body skid plates that help with its rock climbing abilities.  Now since the Jeep Wrangler is also used as a daily driven vehicle it comes with enhanced road refinement, comfort amenities and is even quieter on pavement surfaces. The Wrangler's new 8-speed transmission has wider gear ratios from a lower first gear to assist on off-roading torque to a higher gear for your highway driving.

Also, for your driving comfort, a new electro-hydraulic power steering system is there for a better steering feel and a smaller turning radius.  Under the Wrangler's iconic hood along with the V6 is the new 2.0-liter turbo four that punches out 268 lively ponies and 295 lb-ft of asphalt/dirt grabbing torque.  When you just must have an “off-roader” or want to be seen as one, the Wrangler is your choice.

The bet is on that you will leave with a smile, not only because you brought back the important “fun factor” in your drive times, but for the great deal you received. No better time than now.
